Daniela Spielmann began playing saxophone at 17 and was always interested in Brazilian music. Her style was influenced by the wind instruments most commonly used in choro, like the clarinet and flute. Besides the strong choro influence, her music also incorporates frevo, maracatu, samba, bossa nova and jazz.

She studied harmony at Musiarte in Rio, atttended the Berklee School of Music in Boston for an extension course, and graduated in Music Education at Uni-Rio. She studied privately with Idriss Boudrioua, Juarez Araújo, Eduardo Neves and Rick Margitza. She also studied arranging and harmony with Vittor Santos and classical flute with David Ganc.

Daniela has accompanied Brazilian artists such as Moreira da Silva, Carmem Costa, Mauro Diniz, Zé Keti and Nelson Sargento, among others. She was a soloist in the Rio Jazz Orchestra for two years, and is a member of the house band for "Altas Horas" a television program on TV Globo where she contributes arrangements every week.

Aside from being an integral member of the groups Rabo de Lagartixa, Mulheres em Pixinguinha and Sincronia Carioca, Daniela also has her own solo project, allowing her to explore her side as composer and arranger.
